Metro Estimates Eagle Rock BRT Construction Through April 2028

Construction of Metro’s North Hollywood to Pasadena Bus Rapid Transit project along Colorado Boulevard in Eagle Rock is scheduled to run from mid-October 2026 through April 2028 according to a timeline presented by Metro during a community Zoom meeting Monday evening.

The roughly 18-month construction window is considerably longer than earlier anticipated.
Metro also presented plans to eliminate existing left-turn pockets at numerous intersections along the approximate two-mile stretch of Colorado Boulevard, according to Mark Christoffels of HDR Design Team.
The affected cross streets will be: Sumner, Lockhaven, Windermere, El Rio, Rockland, Caspar, Glen Iris, Shearin, Highland View, La Roda, Vincent, Townsend, Hartwick, and Mount Helena. In exchange, “existing intersections will receive protected left turn movements,” according to Christoffels.
Among other updates from Monday’s meeting:
The planned Townsend station has been moved slightly west, closer to Mount Royal. Metro said water main access points near Townsend necessitated the change. The new location more closely matches a rendering previously provided to Eagle Rock Pop that showed the station near Mount Royal.

Portions of the existing 180 bus route may be rerouted as part of the project.
Metro will hold an in-person community meeting Tuesday evening in Glendale (see below for meeting details). Eagle Rock Pop will be there and will have more information in the next issue including details on design plans and traffic control measures during construction.
